A&M played 1 opponent in conference play that’s ranked (hell, only 1 conference opponent with a winning conference record)…and lost by double digits. Note: Texas played 3 CFP teams in conference play, and 1 (Vandy) in the hunt contending for a CFP slot which is why I put “contending” in parenthesis above. So Texas played 4 CFP teams and beat 3 in conference play if Vandy is in or 3 CFP teams in conference play and beat 2 if Vandy doesn’t make it. Total, Texas played 5 CFP teams in total and beat 3 (or played 4 CFP teams in total if Vandy doesn’t make it and beat 2). A&M has nowhere near the résumé that Texas has
