Hate to do this, but spending 5 decades in law enforcement, despite only 38 years served, CAN be true, despite however misleading it may be. A decade is a period of 10 years, typically measured as such: 1980-89, 1990-99, 2000-09, 2010-19, 2020-29. You can start in 1989 - you’re in the decade of the 80’s. Run the next 3 sets of decades straight through, retire in 2020, and you’ve spent 5 decades LE despite only serving as low as 32 years. I don’t like what he’s doing with this, but I had to point it out. Gordie Howe is the reason I’m familiar with this bit. He started his career in 1946, played through the next three, retired in 1980. He did a bit with the Detroit Vipers in ‘97 so he could claim he’d played in 6 decades. Little fun fact for ya.
