Text is a string. Math isn’t. It grows in every direction into multi-line structures. That’s why people still do math on paper. We’re bringing that experience to computers. Corca is WYSIWYG math editor, and it's fast!

what does this do that LATEX or Typst don't? seems like another slop app

It’s beautiful. And cool to watch it in action

Or you could just learn LaTeX in an afternoon.

Please be open source too

I mean there is latex and editors like word has support for equation but best of luck hope you can make some positive impact.

❤️

nice!!! plain latex was so shit.

This would benefit a lot from just a bit more effort toward beautiful typesetting

That doesn't mention beauty.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Anyway, it won’t be a serif font like in LaTeX. We want something more modern, closer to blackboard writing. We’re still working on it, and it’s changing every day

Empirically people consistently prefer reading printed text to blackboard writing. Imo it's unwise to unnecessarily bundle functional innovations with very non-conventional beauty choices, but I wish you luck with the experiment.

Can i export it to latex code?

Of course ❤️

@rawatpriyansh17 What about Typst?

@rawatpriyansh17

Of course "Math is a string". Gödel and Latex want to have a word with you. Almost 20 years ago I digitized the math lectures of my Humboldt University math professor, live during his lessons. All I needed was vim and some macros.

looks so good. how do you capture this in data? mathml? something in json?

so good!! 💥

Omg finally! I saw one of these posts ~a year ago and then my feed refreshed before I could glean the name. Was waiting for the day it would come back ❤️

The problem of WYSIWYG editors is that the moment you do something non-trivial like generating a set of formulas from parameters on a csv or visualization you're going to be either programming or scripting and now you need to learn 2 systems instead of 1.

Can you please tell us a bit more about use cases when you need this?

Badass

Wow, fucking wow!

My first tests will be: Can I put some expression I already wrote in the denominator of a division? Can I put it under square root? These two have to be without copy paste. But I also wonder if copy paste works.

Did you try?

Just tried now, and yeah it can do it, very nice. I am getting used to the UI, I'll report back.

A hybrid with handwriting recognition would be 🤯

I just studied using latex for my math exam and sometimes struggled with finding the right symbols (also in different languages than english). This seems like a game changer for quick lecture notes. Will there also be localisation support?

It's already there

Nice, but who the f**k wants to do his math in the cloud? Sell a downloadable program for Linux or forget it!

@Orcasandwich You should definitely add “C” to your name

Good one! :-)I hope you can do it and create a nice PC-based math editor with printing! Let's end the SaaS scam! You can do it, good luck! 💪🚀🚀

@Orcasandwich ❤️

i always would’ve wanted this at uni

love you and the math editor!

i don't like math but this is a cool project and looks nice when used

Way better than latex

you are still on string basis. because "..." is not a mathematical term. but still good work, i guess.

this is legit

cool

BEAUTIFUL

Any plan to do a Obsidian Plugin?

No, but you can import Obsidian docs into Corca. Just drag and drop them into the left panel

beautiful.

I'm unsure how to write and export multi-line formulas, auto-calculation doesn't seem enabled, and IME support is subpar—I just want to select words with Enter, but it gets recognized as auto-complete.

Open brackets { than click shift+enter for multi-line equations

this is the part ai tools keep missing text is linear math is spatial most math sessions for me look like: arrows side notes tiny proofs in the corner curious how corca handles that chaos without slowing you down

holy moly

AsciiMath is a reasonable approach to solve the LaTeX problem too. But that dropdown thing on your software is optional, right? Very disturbing to get suggestions all the time, where simple keyboard input would suffice. I see you are typing in words like "part" for ∂.

It is not yet, but we are looking for a good balance for suggestions.

Please add login with github dear

> Text is a string. Math isn’t. Gödel would disagree lol.

Anything can be encoded as a string, the question is readability
