Thailand offered Indian citizens 60-day visa-free entry (extendable by another 30 days) from 15 July 2024. As of 19 May 2026, this benefit was revoked unexpectedly and replaced with a 15-day Visa on Arrival costing 2,000 THB. This visa is non-extendable.

I just left Thailand. The rules are NOT strict enough for Indians. It should cost them 15,000 baht per person to enter and they should only be allowed to stay a maximum of 6 hours. That's long enough to haggle with a poor vendor, harass a prostitute and try to scam a tourist.

The best way to improve the quality of visitors is to shorten the stay (from select countries) and to make it expensive. Unfortunately in Indian case it will not solve the problem but it will limit the damage.

It wasn’t unexpected. It had been and the works for over a month. It was almost all the countries granted 60 days. But pleasantly only the Indians have been hit with the 15 day.
