Today marks the 53rd anniversary of Bloody Sunday. 28 unarmed civilians were shot by British soldiers during a protest march in the Bogside area of Derry. Thirteen men were killed outright with the death of another man occurring four months later. Many of the victims were shot while fleeing from the soldiers, while some were shot attempting to help the wounded.
