We helped this one 🦌 after finding beside deceased mother. Returned him back with a tame herd on protected land. 💙💙💙

Beautiful! I love the smile of satisfaction on the boy’s face at the end. ❤️

The knew to pick up the fawn using lots of foliage so as not to 'infect' it with a human smell which might have made its mother reject it. Well done.

🤨 Was the grass used to keep the scent off?

I understand you had good intentions. However, you would have been better off leaving it alone. The reason it lays perfectly still is an instinctive self protect mechanism against predators. They give off no odor at that age. Now that it's moved out of high grass and in the open it is compromised. Where's mommy?

Mom’s leave their babies in the tall grass to keep them safe from predators. She will come back…if the baby is still there.

@grok what is going on here? Explain it like a caveman

Ugh! Big shiny beast roars in grass, gonna squish tiny deer! Man grab deer, run fast, put in safe spot. Good, deer not smooshed! But some say, "No touch! Mama deer come back, maybe mad now." Others say, "Save deer, danger bad!" Man try help, but tricky—deer need mama, not man. If shiny beast near, move deer quick, then leave. If not, wait, watch. Mama know best.

Well done on not getting human scent on baby!

We had an Army helicopter scan the whole area with a heat detector. Wherever a fawn was detected a white flag was put in place. So farmers knew which places to avoid. They do this here whenever haying is due. I saw 12 white flags around our farm. 12 lifes saved 🥰

How the f did they spot it?

@BigPawsofTruth They should not have bother the new born fawn. The mama was close by, mama will leave the fawn in tall grassy areas. mama has a scent the fawn doesn’t have one yet. It’s to protect the fawn from predators.

Omg ❤️ How did you even see it there?

The only protection against predators fawn this old has is that fawn has no smell so predators can't locate it by smell. Using handful of grass and gloves prevents the human smell to be passed onto fawn. Good job, young man

How do you know its mom wasn’t just away foraging?????? Please leave the fawns alone to see if Mom returns in 24 hours. Also check the tips of the ears. If crumpled, the fawn is dehydrated & in danger.

I really appreciate them stopping and saving this little guy

A fawn freezes when it's frightened. Please never touch it, as the mother will not tolerate human scent and would not take the fawn back. In our village, farmers call drone teams. They fly over the meadows with infrared cameras before mowing and rescue the fawns from the mowers.

Took me a minute on his arms.

it is so easy to not see them

They'd better leave the calf alone, and skip mowing for 2 meters or so. Now the mother will leave it, despite of the good intentions. Anyway, the grass is full of weed, so it doesnt hurt the yield at all.

Well spotted. The human scent business is a myth. It's more likely the commotion involved in mowing could cause stress and abandonment. Since they took such care in moving it, I'm certain they cared enough to watch and make sure mama returned for it.

A volunteer at the Lindsay Wildlife museum called this fawn kidnapping. Yes the mother was close. They spend time returning fawns to where the kidnappers found it. This one is very small, a day old probably.

Mom deer park their babies. The baby should have been left there. Mom will be back. Why did they put it in a fence?

How did they spot that?

Awwwwww ❤️

Only farmers and people who lives close to nature will understand this video. Well done to spot and remove it before getting choped! ❤️

He needed more protection from that dangerous beast..

Please don’t do this. The mama deer bed down their babies and go get food/water then come back to their babies. This can cause them to get separated and then baby will die or a predator will get it. Try not to mess with wildlife. They know what they are doing.
Best to leave the fawn undisturbed, the doe has left it there and will return.

The way they moved the fawn was perfect. Wore rubber gloves and natural grass because fawn deer have zero scent for protection. The mama doe will locate her fawn with bleating.

My second year making hay just a few days ago I ran over one with my cutter. Poor thing died fairly quickly. I feel horrible and will walk my fields form now on before cutting. Neighbours all say it has happened to them often. Funny this is posted at this time.

It should have been left where it was.

@grok can you explain what happens in this video?

❤️👍🏻

Awwwww
