Thanks to a complex mathematical algorithm, these plastic shapes follow a very specific route as they roll. In fact, researchers have shown that a shape can be designed to follow almost any path you can think of.

Read the paper here:

Wow, you can design an object that will draw a line replicating a human ECG or replicating the horizon line of some famous place as a souvenir.

I want a shape to write this!

Wanna simulate it. How? Checkout our review on computational modeling of non-spherical particles, here ( @NatRevPhys.

Yo, if you arent to busy can you solve the homelessness and drug problems.. maybe do some maths to get the economy going again

every matter in this uinverse repeat the same pattern while moving according to their shape... does it means we are also repeated.. multiverse is true... -Melin chaudhary

@cagrimbakirci There is something about Fourier Series but idk what exactly 🙂

When the shape produces two identical copies of the path with non-identical parts of the sphere, would you call that pseudosymmetry? 🤔

Amazing story telling, I have no idea how it would be applicable but I want to order all the shapes to play around!

Hasn't the same principle been applied in the design of camshafts that open engine valves & similar mechanisms? We had a course called 'dynamics of machinery' in mech engineering. This of course seems to be a much more sophisticated approach mathematically
