When I was a kid our neighbor's pool collapsed. Standing water ended up in the basements of houses on both sides. Not disastrous but ruined stuff that was stored on the floor.

My buddy up the road had a pool like that. It was about chest deep to me and I'm 6'3. One day he decided to empty it by doing a belly flop off the rail of the deck. Maybe 10ft drop, his fat ass split the pool side and flooded the house behind him on a lower plain. It was pricey.

It wasn't because it was too full. That's an old Eastern manufacturer's pool, and the metals used caused electrolysis, making the pool rust out early. That's why the split was at the filter panel.

You can't overfill those pools, more likely it was made poorly or the materials were poor. Otherwise they will just flow over like a fountain if over filled.
