It’s just the draft of the ship the causes displacement of the body of water it is traveling in.
Look at the grass on the shore. It's laid down and pointed towards the body of water. That's because of water displacement. The water receded like as if a tsunami, and then it comes back in.
People surf these wakes in the Galveston bay.

By looking at the ground and flat grass you can see it does that constantly.

I was on the Kansas River on a 17’ flat bottom boat, we passed a river barge…and didn’t see the wave…. Then ramped about 10’ after hitting wave 😂
