It amazes me how cops roll up to a situation thinking, I'm going to arrest some kids today. The need to understand that the more they engage with the teenagers the greater chance of one of them doing something wrong that requires physical force which may result in a kid going to jail. Putting kids in jail should never be a priority for police except under the most dire circumstances. They create more problems than they solve by doing this. A group of teenagers is like herding cats. That's reality, you can't expect them to act like adults because they are not adults which means you can't treat them like adults. Handcuffs and jail are traumatic for them and for the parents and puts them on a path to being stuck in the system for the rest of their lives.
