Is anyone remotely capable of speaking about Wirtz without calling him an "unbelievable" footballer. The only thing that's hard to believe is that we paid £120m for him. He is utter guff and has shown nothing to the contrary either last season or in the WC. It's ok to admit it

I agree with van Barneveld.

Midfielders are there to make forwards look good. Our midfielders want to do it all. Or we have to change the forwards. But that midfield won’t fit that forward line. And Wirtz might be better brought into a team already winning.

That midfield was criminal, 2 8s and a 10, not one tackler, the need for tackling ball winning legs in there is fucking obvious

Stop getting carried away every time we win or lose a game.

We need two new midfielders if we want the best out of Wirtz. We need midfielders who are aggressive, get round the park, win the ball and work their bollocks off. We have no one like that. And until we get them, we’ll struggle centrally. Full back, we need totally new ones

The way to start games is to go positively with intent. We start games with no intensity, no desire. It’s like we are doing a gentle keep ball session in training. It sets the tone - both for us, and for the opponent in the message it sends.

Iraola won’t ease of his training and I don’t think he should either. The players need to step up to the intensity and demands he’s putting on them & the hierarchy have to give him a squad of 30 who can cope with those demands.
