#mountainfire update; The fire is currently at 20,596 acres with 7% containment. There are currently 2,420 personnel on scene, including 378 engines, 20 Water Tenders, 34 Hand Crews, 17 Dozers and 14 helicopters. VCFD is in unified command with CAL FIRE Incident Management Team 5 and we are incredibly grateful for the support of our mutual aid partners. Damage assessment teams are in process of identifying and verifying the number of structures that have been impacted. Our thoughts are with all of members of our local Ventura County community through this devastating incident. The fire is burning in steep, rugged terrain with dry and receptive fuels that continue to challenge containment efforts. Fire activity has decreased due to a decrease in winds over the area. A large animal evacuation center has been established at the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara. A public information hotline has been established. Affected residents can call 805-465-6650 for assistance. Evacuation orders remain in place. Residents are encouraged to visit for the most current evacuation information. An evacuation center has been setup at Padre Serra Parrish at 5205 Upland Rd in Camarillo. It's a snowy morning at the airport, with the forecast calling for up to 10 cm of snow, mainly falling over the next few hours before tapering off to light flurries this afternoon. Our crews at the Airfield Maintenance Facility are ready to plow runways, taxiways and apron areas to keep them safe for operations, while teams at the Central Deicing Facility are gearing up to deice aircraft. It’s expected to be a busy morning, with all departing flights heading to the facility for a spray before takeoff. A traffic management initiative is in place to help regulate the flow of departing aircraft. Travellers are encouraged to check their flight status before coming to the airport.

The politicians and pundits in the West are terrified of escalation. They are begging for peace. But walking these streets, seeing the iron of our cage melting before our eyes, we are not afraid of the fire. We only have one true, suffocating fear: we are terrified that the strikes will stop before the rescue mission is finished. We are afraid of this regime's survival. And more than anything, we are afraid of losing our one real chance to end them for good.

Cal AI might be the most viral health app this year. 8M+ downloads, projected to do $30M revenue this year. Built by two teenagers. Everyone's using it. But nobody's talking about the fact that their AI is completely broken... To the point where users are manually correcting EVERY meal. • Bowl of grapes: 60 cal estimate (actually ~260) • 4 boiled eggs: 1,010 cal estimate (actually ~300) • Meat portions: consistently off by 50% These aren't my words, but the reviews you can see for yourself on App Store and other places. If the whole USP is saving time vs manual logging, and you still have to correct everything... what's the point? What Cal AI did get right: Distribution. • Viral TikTok content • Smart influencer partnerships • 8M downloads in under a year They absolutely crushed GTM. But the product doesn't work lol. The gap between the "90% accuracy" claim vs the actual user experience kills trust. And in health apps, trust is everything. This is the problem with AI apps across the board right now. Everyone's racing to ship fast and go viral. Nobody's asking: "Does this actually solve the problem?" Distribution > product quality is a losing game. As a result, you're bound to encounter problems: 1. Training data doesn't match real-world variety 2. No depth sensing for portion size 3. Poor training data on homemade meals 4. Zero context (is that chicken grilled or fried?) You only get fast & inaccurate answers. This is why, when I started building my own recipe app, I looked at Cal and other AI nutrition apps and noticed that being accurate was the biggest factor. Here's how we're building Nonna differently: ✓ Multi-model AI (different models for different foods) ✓ User feedback loop to improve estimates ✓ Manual override that actually trains the system ✓ Ship when it works, not when it's "good enough" If the AI can't nail it, we're not shipping it. But accuracy alone is boring. So we're also adding some additional features that make you want to use it daily: • Fridge Story: shareable infographic of your fridge contents • Mystery Ingredient: weekly cooking challenges • Cuisine Spin: random inspiration when you're stuck • Expectation vs Reality: before/after photo collages Tl;dr: Distribution gets downloads. Product keeps users. Cal got millions of downloads. How many people still use it daily after manually correcting every meal for a week? Viral marketing with a broken product = expensive way to disappoint people.

The exhaustion is real, and some weeks completely drain you but then you look at that last photo. Seeing Tina’s Hospital finally coming together makes every single rainstorm and brutal day completely worth it. This is exactly what we are working so hard for, and we wouldn't trade it for the world. ❤️

VICTIM RESCUED AFTER 7-HOUR TECHNICAL CLIFF RESCUE AT DEAD MAN’S POINT SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The San Francisco Fire Department has completed a 7-hour technical cliff rescue at Dead Man’s Point in Land’s End, Presidio. As a United States Coast Guard helicopter arrived, dense fog returned, making air rescue unsafe. With the cliff perch becoming increasingly unstable, SFFD rescue technicians developed a controlled plan with the victim in mind. The victim slid down the cliff face in a controlled descent and landed on the shoreline sustaining minor injuries. SFFD rescue swimmers were staged in the water and immediately assisted the adult victim through heavy surf to a waiting SFFD rescue boat. Rescue swimmer Paramedics evaluated and treated the victim who was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One SFFD rescue swimmer sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the emergency room. The firefighter is expected to make a full recovery. This rescue was conducted in extreme terrain and severe weather. San Bernardino County Fire and CAL FIRE Partner on Front Country Fuel Reduction Project SAN BERNARDINO, CA — The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, assisted by CAL FIRE, began Phase 1 of the North San Bernardino Front Country Fuel Reduction Project. This proactive wildfire mitigation effort is designed to reduce fire risk and improve protection for communities along the northern edge of the City of San Bernardino. The project will establish a 50-foot-wide fuel break extending approximately one mile from Highway 18 west to Devils Canyon. Crews will be removing vegetation and reducing available fuels that could contribute to wildfire growth and spread. Historically, several significant wildfires have originated in this area and threatened homes and neighborhoods throughout North San Bernardino. The construction of this fuel break will help slow the spread of future wildfires, improve firefighter access, and provide an additional layer of protection for residents and property. Work on the project is expected to take approximately one to two weeks to complete. Residents may see firefighting personnel, equipment, and vegetation removal operations occurring throughout the project area during this time. While this project represents an important investment in wildfire preparedness, San Bernardino County Fire reminds residents that the threat of wildfire exists year-round. Your drone shot isn’t worth someone’s home, or someone’s life. Deputies responded to two grass fires along I‑25 near Castle Pines Parkway on Sunday. As the Douglas County firefighting helicopter approached to attack the flames, a drone was detected flying in the same airspace at the same altitude near the fire. That drone forced the helicopter to halt operations until it was grounded. With help from South Metro Fire Rescue 's technology, crews quickly tracked down the drone and its operator. Deputies cited him for obstructing firefighting operations. We get it, capturing the scene might seem exciting. But during emergencies, every second counts. Please keep drones out of active fire zones so our teams can protect lives and property without delay. ***Be sure you’re following all FAA rules and have the proper licensing and certifications required for your specific drone before you fly.
