@queenof99lol it's always people on land talking about the nice being too thin. I regularly fish on ~4" during early ice, haven't went in yet

@queenof99lol Tip-up Town, an annual festival of ice fishery, etc located ON Houghton Lake in Michigan. We'd drive our station wagon onto the lake (beyond this stuff), drill some holes for our tip-up gadgets, and wander around the carnival... great fun!

@queenof99lol 2cm holds a person on ski's. 4cm good enough for walking, that looks like +15cm so you can drive a car on it in slow speed.

@queenof99lol On Balsam Lake in Wisconsin some years someone would drive an old car out into the middle and then everyone would place bets on the day and time it would fall through in the spring. We’re made different up north.

@queenof99lol The ice at the end is more than double the thickness of moderately safe ice. I know dudes who go ice fishing on 2 inches of ice.

@queenof99lol Ice only needs to be roughly 4iches think to be safe to walk/skate on, around 8 inches for you to drive on it!

@queenof99lol No it's not thin. You can skate on way thinner ice. Single person can skate on 2 inches (4-5cm) of ice, for groups of people you need 4-5 inches (10-12cm), this ice is perfectly fine.

@queenof99lol Nope, borderline but easily 6 inches. Probably don’t want a set of cars or trucks out there

@queenof99lol I would say if you reduce the thickness with 50% then it is. But that looks ok, atleast fot icefishing and bonfire

@queenof99lol You only need 2 or 3 inches of good ice I don't recommend driving a full size truck on it unless it's at least 12 inches think tho

@queenof99lol We used to hit those piles of ice left behind by ice fishermen after a snowfall zipping across the lake and the snowmachine would take flight and disintegrate!!!
