It’s collective prayer and worship taken seriously. Many Latin Mass goers follow along with the missal that translates and explains every part of the liturgy. The Norvus Ordo mass has something like 60% of the liturgy of a Latin mass. The homily is in the vernacular.

In many ways, your critiques of Catholicism are the same as the ones Protestants have been saying since Luther, lol.
