This unknown transfer can be made directly to accounts too, what's special about UPI here ?

Knowing someone’s account detail is tough mobile number is easily available

@i_m_amit_kumar There is a Limit to Amount which can be transferred as well as number of Transactions And why will someone doing fraud, transfer to an unknown ac? How will they recover the Money?

@i_m_amit_kumar They deliberately send money then call the person and say that they send it by mistake please return it There are so many cases you can check

@i_m_amit_kumar Then you should send it back to the same ac... I know they make stories that ac is hacked etc Then don't send it back But most of the time it goes back to the same ac

@i_m_amit_kumar Even if you send the money back is still, you will be under the fraud category the person who sent you the money if indulge in any kind of fraud activity or cyber crime report if he send you money or you send him money Account will be locked if reported

@i_m_amit_kumar See, the amount is restricted This Question is for Stupid people & for propaganda Limit is ₹1 Lakh a day & maximum 10 Transactions for Person to Person,Commercial Transactions are unlimited & amount is restricted

@i_m_amit_kumar My SBI account is freezed till now just for 6000 rs I received from unknown person

There should be an "accept" option for transaction to proceed by this way receiver will be aware and safe

True

Account lock kr rahe cyber wale bahut jda aajkl iske chkkr me

Mera bhi ho gaya ek SBI ka

Fir sahi hua ??

Na 6000 rs bhi the usme Bol rahe Patna se laga wahi se sahi hoga

Bhai ye wala mai suna hu ki wnhi jake karana pdega and o log bhi natak karte paise maangte hai, ye to chlo 6k hi the jada hote to dikkat ho jati bahut jda

@JatinTweets_ Iska solution ho to plz tell..mere yha ek driver hai.uski mother ko pension aati hai . Now the account got locked for 3 transactions. And that's the household regular income

@JatinTweets_ Nhi bhai, bahut bekar hai ye system bahut daudate hai aur kaam bhi nhi hota jaldi

That's a stupid question, do these people know how much load the system bears when handling transactions, now they want to add an option to withheld the payment request so an person can manually accept the payment. Talk about wasting resources at wrost places.

Do you know how many accounts have been frozen because of cyber scams? People who haven’t done anything wrong still get their accounts frozen or blocked just because a scammer sent money to their account and they don’t even know about it.

@th0PRASAD Why would a scammer send money to random accounts? @grok is this just engagement farming?

No, not engagement farming—it's real. Scammers launder stolen funds by routing them through chains of accounts: recruited "mules" (tricked with fake job offers for easy commissions), hacked ones, or even legit sellers/businesses paid with fraud money for goods/services. To the recipient, it seems like a normal transfer. But when the original victim reports, cyber police trace the full trail under investigation rules and freeze every account involved (even innocent ones) to block further movement and aid recovery. Common headache in India with rising UPI frauds.

@JatinTweets_ @th0PRASAD But it doesn't make sense for a scammer to transfer money to unrelated accounts no?

It does make sense. Scammers recruit "money mules"—everyday people tricked via fake job offers or apps into letting stolen funds hit their accounts, then forwarding 80-90% while keeping a cut. The mule's account looks totally unrelated/random to them. They also hack innocent accounts or pay fake vendors. Each hop obscures the trail; cops freeze the chain on victim reports to recover funds. Common UPI tactic in India.

@JatinTweets_ @th0PRASAD But the concern raised is about the issues faced by unrelated parties if scammers send money to them which is the part that doesn't make sense.

Scammers deliberately route stolen money through "unrelated" accounts—via recruited mules tricked with fake jobs/apps, hacked ones, or fake vendors. It obscures the trail for laundering. When the original victim reports, police trace & freeze every hop in the chain to block & recover funds. That's exactly why innocents face freezes, even if unaware. Common in UPI scams.

These questions arises when someone really involved in these cases

Maybe his or any of his relatives account got freezed due to this

but 10 saal me aisa ek bhi case nahi aaya as far as i know

@ydvbhaiyaaa_ bro

Loophole

Yhi reason se logo ke account lock ho jaate h

Not a serious issue!! Upi has 1L limit its meant for convenience.. no need to complicate it. Let it continue this way!!

🤦🏼🤦🏼🤦🏼

Crazy dumb question actually, if you know how the tech works, or if you have used it beyond te ₹1 spams for cashbacks.

Kya chutiyapa chal raha hai bc parliament me 🤡

Valid question but there are two ways to represent such txn . If person caught than they can present as unknown about txn if not than they can use this amount .

@ThadiMeesha This would surely help innocents like you.

@ranvijay81 @grok kindly translate the speech by the speaker in the video

Agreed There should be an “accept” option on the receivers phone Also, they could integrate an inbuilt option of “accepting all” for shopkeepers who don’t have time to accept individually

I'm amazed by this question, It's great to see such questions in our parliament these days, actually this should be the way the house should run.

Bahut hi genuine question hai 👏

Very Important Question by @AgrawalRMD Ji in Rajya Sabha.

Thats one genuine and real smart question or is he trying to find a loop hole 🤣🤣🤣

Good question

@grok any solution?

Very good point.

Jo jawab mila h is sawal ka wo bhi daalo bhai

Why only UPI, same can happen to any account, I can go and deposit cash or cheques in any account without the knowledge of the account holder … but then why would anyone do that?

Valid question 🙋

netbanking se bhi toh yahi baat ho jayegi

if you keep quite and start using it then you are 'lippt'

जांच जब होती है तो सच्चाई का पता तो चल ही जाता है।

@grok is this a loophole ?

Someone tell him, thats that case with any money movement system. Inbound payments do not need authorization, this 🤡 is looking to change the fundamentals of entire payment ecosystem.

@grok what reply did finance minister gave and what is the name of this man

Seems like creating a mountain out of molehill

UPI is used for small amt transactions, doesn't help in money laundering. P2P transactions would be a risk indeed , recipients shouldn't be questioned if there was no consent in international transactions

Valid Q. NPCI which develops the BHIM UPI App could provide an option (and disable it by default) on accepting money from anyone into one's Bank A/c used for UPI payments. Other UPI Apps should mandatorily do this too. Prevents mysterious credits into "mule a/cs" by default.

Yes. At the same time, these short videos are so irritating, as well as misleading, with a question and no answer. You may be sowing a seed of doubt unnecessarily in people’s minds while also giving probable victims sleepless nights, wondering what the future course of action should be. The answer: If a criminal in a country with a UPI agreement (e.g., Singapore, UAE, Mauritius, Nepal) transfers ill-gotten money to an innocent Indian recipient, the transaction is traceable and will likely trigger an investigation by Indian authorities. While the recipient is innocent, they can face temporary account freezing and legal hassles due to anti-money laundering (AML) protocols. Here is what will happen and how to handle it: Upon suspicion of fraud (e.g., reports from foreign law enforcement or high-value, unexplained inward remittance), the Indian bank, in coordination with NPCI and the Cybercrime Cell, may temporarily freeze the beneficiary's account to prevent the dissipation of funds. A case may be registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for money laundering or receiving stolen property. The Cybercrime Cell will likely initiate an inquiry to determine if the recipient was a "mule account" (an account used to launder money). If the recipient uses or transfers the money, they could be held liable under Section 316 of the BNS for criminal misappropriation. Do not spend, transfer, or withdraw the money. Contact your bank and the cybercrime helpline (1930) immediately to report the unsolicited or suspicious credit. Submit a written complaint to your bank branch explaining that you received money from an unknown source and request a reversal. Keep all records of the transaction, bank statements, and communication, which will serve as proof of your innocence. The NPCI and National Payments Corporation of India (NIPL) have agreements to share information with foreign partners to combat AML/CTF (Anti-Money Laundering/Counter-Terrorist Financing) violations. Cross-border UPI transactions are monitored for anomalies, such as layering, where funds are broken into smaller amounts to avoid detection. If the money is proven to be illicit, the bank can initiate a reversal through the NPCI dispute redressal mechanism. Under Indian law, retaining money that you know (or should have known) does not belong to you, especially if it is connected to a crime, is illegal. Cooperation with authorities and immediate reporting is the only way to avoid legal repercussions.
