This job would be the death of me. My Whole camera roll would be photos of the last door I checked to make sure I’d done it correctly.

Japan. The technique he is using is called Shisa Kanko (pointing and calling), a highly effective method used to reduce human error.

The proud moments of a mother and father who see that the pilot of the plane they boarded is their son.

This father didn't know his daughter was the pilot for his flight. Beautiful moment 🥰

The ground crew guy is doing what's called “shisa kanko (指差喚呼)”, or pointing and calling. It's a safety practice started by Japanese Railways that has proven to be a fantastic way of catching errors and discrepancies and has saved countless lives.

Hate to say it after flying over 2 Million miles on commercial airlines I have never seen this. The person I see closing the door is usually an overweight gate agent who does none of that. The man has to be an ex navy or af flight line worker.

Gotta love those Japanese, they are sticklers for details.

I couldn’t imagine not doing it if it was me. If something happened to the aircraft and it was caused by something I’d missed in my job/procedures, I couldn’t live with myself. Do the job properly first time, or don’t do it at all is how I’ve lived my life.

The procedure the worker is following is a Japanese methodology for those kinds of safety double-checks. That's not an American worker.

Reminded me back in the days when I was Plane Captain in the Navy or Crew Chief equivalent in the AF, we used to do this when closing aircraft panels. Because sometimes the eyes miss things. But if you also use your sense of touch through your hands, you’ll feel if a latch is not properly secured or a fastener that secures a panel is loose, or accidentally missed during tightening procedures.

Here’s whats happening This demonstrates "Shisa Kanko" (pointing and calling), a Japanese safety technique originating in 1910s railways that reduces human error by up to 85% according to peer-reviewed studies on cognitive psychology, now adopted in aviation for tasks like pre-flight inspections.

Asia likely Japan. The passengers take their own trash off too (as opposed to say a deep south rocket MIA/GIG where you can't see the floor because of the garbage at arrival).

I can tell from the body language, that fine fellow is more than likely Japanese. They are perfectionists and perfectly suited for that extremely important task! Well done good sir for double, triple and quadruple checking that door was completely, totally and utterly sealed. ❤️👍🏻

That’s good. I expect professionalism from everyone on my aircraft but also from my flight liners, ramp agents and LAMEs. Safety is built from the ground up, and every chain has a weakest link, but I still expect it to be relatively strong
