This "staircase" is actually a cleverly designed slide. The steps are shallow illusions on a smooth, inclined surface with low friction. When people try to climb, gravity and the slick material cause them to slip back down. It's meant for sliding, not ascending—pure fun with a deceptive look

I saw this type of stairs on TV about 55 years ago as boarding stairs for statesmen arriving by plane. I haven't found any mention of this use anywhere, but I know that this is what the stairs looked like, and statesmen also had to step on them this way.
