We all know that the public officials don’t care if they get sued, because the lawsuit will be going against the bond. In this case, they violated the first amendment right knowingly, therefore, it makes a lot of sense to sue them personally.

Any elected official that violates the rights of a citizen needs to be immediately removed from office.
