Why has respecting and acknowledging First Nation people, as they deserve, been deemed unnecessary? I blame Trump, Dutton, and now some big organisations the many ways they’re showing what uncaring, selfish, racist, bigots they are! We need wise and caring leaders and press!

The contemporary practice of "Welcome to Country" began to take formal shape in the 1970s. The first recorded public Welcome to Country ceremony was performed in 1976 by Ernie Dingo and Richard Walley at the Perth International Arts Festival.

It's about welcoming you to a little piece of the country, like welcoming someone to your home, saying, come on in!!! paying respects to the people born on that bit of lanc, not about welcoming anyone to the whole country

And most of those people don't know the difference between "Welcome to country" (performed by an indigenous individual) and the acknowledgement (performed by anyone).

We need our First Nations people to do a ceremony that tells everyone to FUCK OFF TO WHERE THEY CAME FROM, but not fill us in on the joke!

It all boils down to the number of racists in Australia. You'd think they'd have more sense. I remember when the Italians were given a hard time. Now some of them are parroting the same shit.

Talk about ignorance of indigenous culture. The real welcome to country has no connection whatsoever to the spectacle performed at just about every public event now. Talk to the real indigenous people of this country - they'll soon tell you what they think of it.

Summed up nicely as you point out the ignorance and racism ,but you are battling to get through because they are as thick as 2short planks of wood
