Oh my, just commenting as a break from important non silly problems.. but the sun isn't going to illuminate the moon in a way that it reflects light from its surface towards us, when the sun is almost directly behind the moon, hence during an eclipse.. and the reason you can't see what I'm guessing your expecting, a half circle from the part of the moon that isn't yet covering the sun, is because the atmosphere your seeing instead is in front of the moon and much brighter also being illuminated through the scatering of light. So your not going to see the dark side of the moon when there are much brighter objects and atmosphere washing it out.. when you do see the moon during the day is when the sun is much further away from it in the sky, and at an angle that some light is reflecting back towards us off its surface..

i took a picture here from L.A. around 8:30 pm,it looks like the object behing is oval shape,the moon in the front is bigger,they said that it was the reflection of the sun

You don't see the moon because the side facing us is at its minimal reflective point when it appears in the same region of sky as the sun, eclipse or not. It's backside is lit like a torch, but obviously both can't be lit fully at the same time. Share the hooch.
