Idk man. You can probably get a heater for a similar price and less work. Maybe just stick a used oven in there and open the door instead 😂. Not to mention you need 230 volts for a dryer.

Yeah but that’s no fun 😂. Bro was probably just trying to get away from the wife 😭

50/50 chance this stupid bastard burns his house down. Right off the bat you should consider that the heater element in a fucking clothes dryer isn't designed for that and probably has horrible energy consumption.

yeah, there will be haters, but reality is, that's a pretty cool modification [projects are done just to see if you can do what you're trying to do ...you could just buy a space heater, but that's not FUN!]

This looks like the work of an electrical engineer who doesn’t understand the physics of heat pumps. Being able to go to Home Depot for a couple hundred bucks and getting a COP of like 3 to 5. Would mean this thing is gonna run on pennies. Some of them can even run on 12 gauge, especially if his shop can heat up with just running a single round of a dryer. A heatpump would probably has an MOP of like 18 A. This isn’t Recycling or ingenuity this is madness

Electric dryer: 15-19k btu $90 Diesel heater ~27k btu Diesel heater 1) heats room faster 2) typically 40-50% less operating cost

at least his burn-the-house-down 3000 has a timer setting so he can predict when the fire dept needs to show up

That’s the best use of an lg dryer I’ve ever seen! Kudos! I’ve been at this for 25 years

Dude removed the heat pump from a dryer and uses it as a heat pump

Top opening...heating element facing up...at that location I'd be dropping a 10 in that element. Or a cat would push my coffee into that nice designed top opening. 😏

Or… you can actually have central heating, which is 100× more efficient.

PRIZ ;]'s profile picture

yeah so instead of spending $500 on a dryer, you could spend $100 on two space heaters and plug them in to separate circuited.

5400W of power lol is your hydro free? That's gonna cost thrice as much as a ceramic heater lol. Do u I guess

Great work on the creativity and ingenuity but cost wise there are definitely better ways. But hats off to the concept I love it.

I did that with one of the older dryers with just the timer knob when I was a kid. I found it in the trash
