The 2001 #VMAs lineup was actually insane

Notice how we still reference and know nearly of these people in 2026? We don’t have stars anymore

Fever dream

Literally when stars were stars for everyone. You could not like their music, but you knew who they were. Now, there's 4 new singers every year and they're unknown by the next.

We had it so good 😔

Ya no los hacen así

so we’re in hell… got it

Britney ❤️

Mark, why you remind of this. It always hurts me that Aaliyah wasn’t there and this time was amazing, let me just say. I miss my childhood 💔😭 the VMAs have been pretty bad for some time and it gives nothing the early 2000s was giving

I don't think I've watched it since then

Sheesh! We used to have ARTISTS!!!

Mya 😍

i like how they announced britney during the “ground breaking performances” segment. cuz yea!

Dale Earnhardt Jr 😳

It used to be at the damn met

All yall do is live in nostalgia

This was peak MTV. Graduated high school that year. I remember a summer of great music and videos. Parents went away for a week and left me the house. Remember my friends and I partying and falling asleep in living room to MTV after dark (? I think that was the name.) Good times.

Wow

Half of these people didn't appear at the '01 VMAs. Will Smith, Snoop Dogg??

That was soo huge lineup when #VMAs are outstanding!
