NOW: Huge turnout from state workers at the California State Capitol as they line up to support AB 1729, a bill by Assemblymember Alex Lee 李天明 (votealexlee.bsky.social) (D-San Jose) that would require state agencies to publicly justify return-to-office mandates. If the bill is approved and signed into law, state agencies will need to provide a written justification for the need to return to office. Many attendees are also pushing back on Gov. Gavin Newsom’s order requiring most state employees to work in-office four days a week starting July 1. They argue telework has proven effective and productive. On the other side, Newsom argues the return to office mandate will improve productivity.

State Sen. @Dhingrama claims passing the Let's Go Washington initiatives will take our state back "decades." Not only does that simply not make any sense, but it also shows a disturbing willingness to lie. Here's why: I-2113: Would return our police pursuit law back how it was before July 2021. I-2117: Would repeal a carbon pricing system that only started collecting revenue a year ago. I-2124: Would make a long-term care tax optional for those who want the program, which hasn't even been fully implemented yet because it only started collecting revenue this past summer. I-2109: Would repeal the capital gains tax, which only started collecting revenue last year. I-2111: Would further protect against a state income tax, which our state does not have right now. I-2081: Designates parents as the primary stakeholder in their child's life, but repeals no existing law. The truth is Democrats love all the money that's rolling in and they don't want to give it up. Time for them to work within a budget like Washington families have to.

Horrific luck for Luke Metcalf who won’t return after suffering a right hamstring injury. Rare goalkicking mechanism now seen twice in two weeks (after Ashton Ward in Round 23). Metcalf also has an extensive hamstring injury history - earlier this season a left hamstring injury cost him 6 weeks, and in 2023 right and left hamstring injuries both cost him 6+ weeks. A best case minor strain would usually be a 2-4 week return, but considering Metcalf’s history wouldn’t be surprised to see the Warriors be conservative with his return date.

I have not seen enough about the decision from Mike Vrabel and Tim Kelly to go for 2 down by 8 last night. Here’s why I loved it: 1) NFL teams this season have been successful on 55% of two-point conversion attempts. The odds were in the Titans’ favor. 2) Will Levis was dealing in the 2nd half. 3) Titans still had all three timeouts and the two-minute warning. 4) Miami struggled to move the ball on offense all night. Their three scoring drives went for 12, 7, and 59 yards. 5) If successful on the two-point conversion, a stop on defense and a TD wins the game. If unsuccessful, you can still send it to OT. 6) Titans offense marched down the field, scored the TD to make it a one possession game and essentially told Miami, “we are going for two because we know you cannot stop us right now.” The odds are in your favor. It’s a good mathematical decision. You want to psych out an opposing offense? Give them the ball knowing they need to run the clock out, or you are going to have a chance to WIN the game, not send it to overtime. They saw what your offense just did to their defense. They saw your QB on the sideline screaming and hyping everyone up. Cutting the lead to six put WAY more pressure on the Dolphins offense. You want to hype up your defense? Put them back on the field knowing your offense just did their job. Put them back on the field knowing a stop and a TD wins it. At that point, they aren’t in the mindset of “we need a stop to have a chance to go to OT.” They are thinking, “let’s go out here, get a stop, and give our offense a chance to WIN.” There’s a fundamental difference in playing to WIN and playing NOT to LOSE. This was a decision by a coaching staff that was playing to WIN. Brilliant game by Vrabel and Kelly. Brilliant execution late in the game by the offense and the defense. Completely out-coached one of the best offensive minds in the game. #Titans
