I'm pretty sure this one issue of ultimate spiderman isn't the state of all modern comics, unless you've never heard of battlebees and didn't read dcko or absolute batman or absolute superman and I definitely know you didn't read other issues of ultimate spider man, because

Granted, I've been out of the scene for a while (a long, long while), but this is unrecognizable as a mainstream action comic book. If the author wants to write a novel, they should, and leave the action comics to those who know how to write them.
