Lets be honest, is there seriously many horror films that have deserved recognition from the academy? Using this clip is weird though a god awful film which was carried by Mia Goth. Her performance still not Academy Award caliber though.

If Crash is Best Picture and Sandra Bullock in The Blind Side is Best Actress, then yes, there are thousands of examples where horror "deserves recognition." Not that I actually think the Acadamy's seal of approval has much value.
