Except he didn't provoke he removed a patch from an object. He was then met with a knife, to which at this point you can see the videos he was a significant distance away and the black chased him down in the wheelchair and pulled a gun. He shot a disabled black man in the chest after robbing him of his patch and only got an assault charge? That's attempted murder, he intended to kill the man, otherwise he never would've shot him. He's a disabled man in a wheelchair, he was no threat at all in that situation.

If the roles were reversed and it was a white guy in the chair the black guy would have gotten away with it with no charge. Never mind a $750,000 bail on top of it.

That’s ridiculous. Even if the initial aggressor is in the wrong, if the other party escalates to seemingly deadly weapons (knife/gun) then it becomes self defense again.

There was no Reasonable Fear of Death or Grievous Bodily Injury until someone pulled out a knife and (to any reasonable observer) brandished a firearm at someone else (it doesn't matter that it was a BB or replica). Seattle is not Texas. There is no provision allowing for use of deadly force to recover property. In fact, you get charged under RCW 9.41.270 if you (the victim) pull a gun or knife to try and apprehend a pick-pocket. You catch aggravated assault or murder / manslaughter charges if you shoot them.
