Meanwhile taps in uk.

So THAT'S how they work!! 🤯

Amazing evolution? More like amazingly wrong. The rubber washers lasted years, and were preceded by *leather* washers which lasted decades. Both were at least repairable with a minimum number of tools, unlike modern combined faucets, which are a pain in the ass.

Now you get limescale build up between the ceramics and it leaks that way instead.

Pardon

This is way more interesting than it should be 😭😭

That washer is cheap and replaced easily. The complexity of the modern shit makes it less repairable.

Every faucet will meet its doom nothing is built to last its engineered to fail so you keep spending money on shit . And on top of that this mentality has filled up countless landfills of trash parts the brass is recycled but usually not by the homeowner. Disgusting practices.

Never thought I’d be emotionally invested in faucet valve lore, but here we are 🚰

So to avoid replacing a fifteen cent washer every other year I now have to buy a new $119 Chinese faucet from Home Depot every other year?

The cartridges are more money then the ball rebuild so we went backwards.

How Roman Sailors Made Seawater Drinkable 😲

Within months? Must be a modern Moen.

Tell that to the shower faucets I have had to replace more that once within 10 years... yes they are that "final" style.

The real tragedy is Oras has been making superior faucets for maybe 50 years already, but wherever you go in the world, you find shitty antique faucets and not the superior Oras ones.

Holy shit an info post on twitter that's actual info and not Indian 5 minute crafts slop

Looks like a tap to me.

Hate lever faucets (or whatever they're called - the newest ones from the video) with all my heart. Still and always will use those with two dials.

Ya but they leak too haha. But quality is everything

From janky old designs to smooth modern ones — the engineering behind faucets is lowkey impressive.

Until those valve seats and springs go and you have leaking.

Well the English still haven't invented combined hot-cold faucet.

I came on twitter to goon and now ik about the amazing evolution of the faucet

Rubber washer is the best one.

Still always leaks and wears down.

Hard-hard gets scratched with tartar and the leaks starts. Hard hard its way more expensive vs the rubber whasher one

With the old brass body faucets, if you open the hot side just a little bit, the stem will expand due to the hot water flowing and close down on the washer again

The latter design still eventually wears down and they are a pain to change especially when the manufacturer uses their own specific dimensions (lack of industry standardisation).

Until you get an itsy bitsy grain of sedument in there and it all goes to shit

One of the few useful videos - if it was made using AI

Funny because my new faucet drips more than the old ones with rubber washers

Biggest scam in homebuilding history. Hot water and Cold water as separate valves is far superior for the consumer but save the contractors so they market it as a convenience.
