Patriotism is about loving the people who live in the damn country — every single one of them. As someone born outside the United States, I have never seen America merely as another country. I have always seen it as a civilization built around opportunity. A place where talent matters. Where innovation is rewarded. Where risk is respected. Where people from every corner of the world can build something larger than themselves. Throughout my professional life, I have worked with American entrepreneurs, investors, universities, public officials, innovators, and communities. Every experience has reinforced one conviction: America’s greatest export has never been its military. It has never been Hollywood. It has never even been the dollar. America’s greatest export has always been the belief that individuals are capable of changing their own destiny. That belief transformed the modern world. It inspired democracies. It accelerated science. It created industries. It connected continents. And it gave hope to millions who had none. God bless the United States of America. Representing the United States at the Olympics is a privilege that hundreds of thousands of athletes dream of. This is not an opportunity to trash America on the world stage. If you’re not proud of your country, go home. Run for office or start a YouTube channel if you want to talk politics. America is the greatest country in the world, we’ll easily find another athlete who is actually proud of this nation.
