I worked in Italy for years. It completely ruined Italian food in America for me because even at 'good' restaurants it's a poor approximation of actual Italian cuisine. Except for I Paparazzi on Miami Beach. It was the closest thing to authentic Italian food I'd ever eaten stateside. All of the staff was Italian. Most didn't speak English. The food was overpriced but very good. They closed down a few years after they opened as it turned out they were laundering drug money for the mafia. Amazing pasta ca nunnata, though.
