📽️Battle of Manassas (First Bull Run) – Brutal Scene from Gods and Generals 🔥 A powerful and chaotic clip from the 2003 film Gods and Generals, showing the First Battle of Bull Run (Battle of Manassas) — the first major battle of the American Civil War. Early in the war, confusion reigns as soldiers in similar uniforms and flags struggle to identify friend from foe. The scene captures the raw brutality, volleys of musket fire, and the famous moment where General Bernard Bee calls General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson for standing firm like a stone wall. 😱 A vivid look at the early, disorganized nature of the Civil War and its human cost. #CivilWar #GodsAndGenerals #BattleOfBullRun #StonewallJackson #AmericanHistory #WarMovies #MovieClip #USHistory #HistoricalDrama

Longstreet strongly urges Lee to abandon a frontal assault on the fortified Union center, recommending instead that they swing around the Union left flank to strike from a better position. Stone Mountain Park in Georgia is home to the largest Confederate monument in the world — and one of the most controversial Civil War sites in America. Just outside Atlanta, the park attracts millions of visitors each year but remains at the center of a debate over Confederate history, Southern heritage and racism. Originally built as a tribute to the Confederacy, Stone Mountain features a massive carving of Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson. It is also the site where the modern Ku Klux Klan was reborn in 1915, adding to its complex legacy. Each year, Confederate Memorial Day brings descendants of Confederate soldiers to the park. Critics argue the monument and gatherings reflect an effort to romanticize the Confederacy and downplay slavery’s role in the Civil War. Join the AJC's Jaide Garcia as she explores the debate over how Stone Mountain’s history should be told — and what the site should represent today. 👉 To learn more about the impact of Stone Mountain, watch the full Southern identity episode of "Curiosities of the South" now on the AJC YouTube channel — and subscribe for more in-depth stories shaping the region: 🎥: AJC | Getty Images | N2SReports / YouTube | WXIA-TV 📸 : Getty Images | Library of Congress | New York Public Library | Virginia Commonwealth University #stonemountain #civilwar #americanhistory #georgia #news

📽️Raising an Army: Stonewall Jackson’s Call to Arms in Gods and Generals 🔥 This powerful scene from the 2003 film *Gods and Generals* captures the early days of the American Civil War in Virginia, as Confederate forces begin to mobilize following the state’s secession. The clip shows the transformation of ordinary citizens into soldiers, blending patriotic fervor, religious conviction, and military preparation under the leadership of Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson. The scene opens with crowds cheering as supplies are requisitioned for the war effort, including cattle and horses taken from a train bound for Washington. Jackson, portrayed with quiet intensity by Stephen Lang, oversees the preparations while engaging in conversations that reveal both his stern discipline and deep faith. Artillery pieces are solemnly christened “Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John,” highlighting the strong religious element that defined many Confederate soldiers. Jackson emphasizes rigorous training, drawing from history and stressing the importance of the bayonet, while welcoming the arrival of the flamboyant cavalry officer J.E.B. Stuart. The moment builds to a stirring address to the assembled troops, where the men are reminded of their duty to defend their homes and state. The speech underscores the painful shift from loyalty to the Union to the defense of Virginia, framing the coming conflict as one of necessity rather than choice. It’s a raw and dramatic portrayal of how the war began for many in the South — not with grand battles, but with the solemn raising of an army from among friends and neighbors. A compelling look at leadership, duty, and the personal cost of a nation dividing. #GodsAndGenerals #StonewallJackson #CivilWar #AmericanCivilWar #StephenLang #JEBStuart #HistoricalDrama #CivilWarMovie #ConfederateArmy #RaisingAnArmy #HistoryOnScreen #WarMovies #Patriotism #MovieScene #ClassicCinema

Through collusion with the Chinese Communist Party, pro-China and pro-North Korea factions in South Korea have seized control of the presidential palace and the National Assembly through election fraud. They then use the National Assembly and government to control the judicial system. To protect their positions and interests, and to avoid prosecution, the pro-North Korea faction will undoubtedly collude with both China and North Korea to launch a civil war. Currently, South Korea has effectively lost its ability to correct its own mistakes and is in grave danger.

Jamaican-born artist Basil Watson is sculpting a 12-foot statue of Robert Smalls, the former slave who commandeered a Confederate ship to freedom and became a Union naval officer and South Carolina lawmaker. The monument will be the first on the State House grounds honoring an individual African American. @skylerhenry has the story.

#Freedom 250 Road to Revolution Timeline: In this month of 1781… Battles in the South The Revolutionary War began in the northeastern colonies and traveled southward to the homes of Washington, Jefferson, and Madison. The British Southern Strategy was a plan to win the war by concentrating their efforts in the south, where they anticipated more support from Loyalists, slaves, and Indian allies. The strategy initially seemed to work, with Archibald Campbell’s capture of Savannah, Georgia in December 1778, followed by another British victory at Henry Clinton’s siege of Charleston, South Carolina, in 1780. British troops continued their tour through the south and gradually moved northward, with Charles Cornwallis’s victory at the Battle of Camden in northern South Carolina in August of 1780. But the tide began to turn when William Campbell’s American troops pushed back the British at the Battle of Kings Mountain in what is now Cherokee County, South Carolina, in October 1780.

RIP Boopac Shakur 💔🕊️ Robert Lee AKA Boopac Shakur, 40, would spend his time EXPOSING child predators and ultimately help get them off the streets. Alone he exposed 132 child predators who sought to harm children. At 10:30 PM on Friday, Lee confronted two males, ages 17 and 18, seated in a Pontiac restaurant near the corner of North Perry and MLK Boulevard. Lee accused one of the men of being a p*dophile which caused one man to pull out a knife and the other to pull out a firearm which he used to shoot Lee. Lee was taken to a hospital where he tragically died. Lee was a hero and he’ll be remembered as one. Thoughts and prayers with the family of Robert Lee AKA Boopac Shakur ❤️🕊️

Did you know about Stone Mountain in Georgia? This isn't just any mountain - it's the LARGEST exposed piece of granite on Earth, and its carving dwarfs Mount Rushmore! Featuring Confederate leaders Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson, this massive artwork spans 3 acres wide and 400 feet high. It took over half a century to complete, finally finishing in 1972! Beyond the carving, the mountain itself is a 300-million-year-old granite dome, offering incredible views of Atlanta from its 1,700-foot summit. A true natural and historical marvel!

Ambassador Morse Tan warned of the serious risk that South Korea could fall under North Korean and Chinese Communist Party influence, leading to communization and absorption. “The United States, through the United Nations Command (UNC), retains the authority to declare DEFCON in times of emergency or crisis." "Lee Jae-myung fears this authority, which is why he is pushing for a unilateral peace declaration—to end America’s wartime authority and expel U.S. forces from the peninsula.” Ambassador Morse Tan Morse H. Tan is currently under an exit ban in Korea over allegations of defaming President Lee Jae-myung. He criticizes the pro-China, pro-North Lee administration, arguing that its sweeping reforms of the judiciary and prosecution are weakening South Korea’s rule of law and national security. He warns the country risks its own “North Koreanization.” His warning highlights how tragic the situation could become for America’s key ally, South Korea.

June 25, 1864, Union soldiers from the 48th Pennsylvania, many of them experienced coal miners, grabbed their picks and shovels and started digging a secret tunnel straight toward the Confederate lines at Petersburg, Virginia. Their bold plan? Tunnel under the Rebel trenches, pack it with gunpowder, and blow a massive hole in the defenses to break the stalemate of the Siege of Petersburg. What started as an ambitious idea from Lt. Col. Henry Pleasants would lead to one of the most tragic moments of the Civil War: the Battle of the Crater.
