There is no Executive, so-called civil society or commentator that is going to undermine the powers of Parliament. Parliament has the powers to make binding resolutions and laws, and that must not be surrendered to a Commission established by the Executive to make non-binding recommendations. Parliament is a product of a democratic process - it must be respected regardless of one’s personal views of it. It must not be undermined to pander to individuals. The General must appear to the Ad Hoc Committee established to investigate his allegations - that’s all.

There is no rule that says the ANC is excluded from putting forth a candidate to chair the committee. We are not going into the impeachment process to defend, we are going into it guided by the ruling of the constitutional court and follow all matters step by step as expected of us.
