The mere fact that chancers were allowed to erect illegal structures inside JHB CBD is beyond comprehension. Often, this is caused by years of weak, indecisive and grossly incompetent leadership that has led Johannesburg Metro for many years. Bylaws are to be rigorously enforced, not negotiated!

July 3, 2024: Premier Lesufi when announcing his new cabinet, announced the establishment of a new department, the Department of Environment, appointing Sheila Mary Peters from the Patriotic Alliance (PA); to clean up Gauteng’s “dirty” cities. He said it. He said municipalities failed — so this new dept would take over. Nearly one year later every CBD in Gauteng is filthier. JHB CBD? Overrun by rats. A media house reported that the rat population is bigger than the human population in JHB CBD and rats are fearless and walk side by side with humans that's how filty JHB CBD is. R611 million later — nothing changed. Can the MEC show us which CBD they cleaned. Can the MEC show us evidence of cleaning JHB CBD. Also did Lesufi lie about this department cleaning CBD' because cleaning JHB CBD is the duty of the municipality. Also never forget in 2022 when Lesufi was announced as premier the cleaning was one of his main priorities. 2023 he said it again. The pass weekend he said the exact same thing Nearly 3 years of saying the exact thing but nothing done in fact it’s gotten worst. Panyaza Lesufi I am not fighting, but hold the MEC to account.
