“The days of your occupation are numbered!” – Mass protests erupted in Gwadar in the Balochistan region of Pakistan, demanding an end to the occupation by Pakistan. The protest was in response to human rights violations and extreme deployment of security forces in the southwestern Pakistani province. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee, which organized the protest, reported a massive police crackdown in response to the event. Over 60 people were arrested. “Human rights violations in Balochistan are at their peak. State institutions are brutally suppressing peaceful voices,” the statement added. Videos on social media and the BYC also reported the use of Pakistani armed forces firearms and live rounds to quell the protest. At least three people have been killed, and many others were injured.

When I saw violations of regulations, criminal misconduct, ethical violations, extreme coercion, and flagrant medical misconduct, I was enraged. Thankfully, what I set out to do was not done alone. I soon met hundreds of brave men and women who stood up and put their careers on the line to confront the DOD and the attack on our national security from within. We are not done. We will continue to fight to put those responsible behind bars for their blatant violations of the law, their intentional deception, and the destruction they brought on our armed forces. A ban on protests and speaking out against human rights violations in Balochistan remains in place.
