The arrogance of Andy Burnham is absolutely staggering. He isn’t stepping into Makerfield because he suddenly cares about the people there or wants to fight for the area. He’s doing it to further his own political ambitions and position himself for a future run at Prime Minister. Makerfield deserves...

I’m here with our fantastic Reform UK candidate, Rob Kenyon, talking about exactly why the people of Makerfield need to get behind him in this hugely important by-election. And let’s be absolutely clear — this is not just any old by-election. This is a General Election by any other name. The eyes of the entire country are on Makerfield right now because what happens here could have massive consequences for the future direction of British politics. This vote is about far more than one seat. It’s about sending a message loud and clear that people have had enough of broken promises, career politicians and being taken for granted. Rob is hardworking, genuine, approachable and somebody who actually understands the concerns of ordinary people because he is one of them. He’s not part of the Westminster bubble. He’s standing because he genuinely cares about his community and wants to fight for local residents. While Labour continue to play political games and focus on personalities and power struggles, local people are worrying about the cost of living, crime, immigration, jobs, small businesses and the future of their communities. Makerfield now has the chance to make history. If you want change, if you want common sense, if you want politicians who actually listen to ordinary people again — then get behind Rob Kenyon and vote Reform UK. This by-election matters. Probably more than most people realise. #ReformUK #Makerfield #VoteReform #RobKenyon #GeneralElection #PoliticalChange #CommonSensePolitics #EnoughIsEnough #BritainNeedsReform Cllr Rob Kenyon Reform UK

This week’s episode of our podcast The State of It: * Nigel Farage’s 8am broadcast on Henry Novak - warning of 2 tier culture - aimed to dominate the agenda. ‘Makerfield will buy into what Nigel Farage has said,’ is how one ally put it. * Reform thinks it can squeeze Restore vote in Makerfield. The big figure both Labour and Reform are focusing efforts on is 17% - the proportion of undecided voters * Lara Spirit on the striking gender divide in Makerfield. Polling suggests Burnham has a 21 point lead among women, Kenton has a 15 point lead among men * Burnham is trying to reach as many undecided voters as possible. While not addressing Farage directly he is trying to counter his criticisms on grooming gangs, clean air zones. He’s fighting the issues rather than the man * Team Burnham don’t want Cabinet visit. Ministers are going up to Makerfield in secret without special advisers. They don’t want photos. They don’t want the association. Ministers say it is surreal * Big announcements on a potential Burnham premiership are coming from his spokespeople rather than Burnham directly. No change to fiscal rules, no early election. * Burnham’s operation making key decisions in a social club on a suburban backstreet in Wigan. A tiny group of people determining Burnham’s campaign and Labour’s future * Patrick Maguire on what Lord Mandelson described as ‘Patrick Maguire syndrome’: “If saying the prime minister doesn’t stand for anything and doesn’t have a political project is a pathology the I accept the diagnosis and have manfully chosen to live without treatment and battle this my own way.”

My thoughts on the Makerfield by-election... Firstly, I don't believe this was simply a Labour vs Reform election. In many ways, I think it was a referendum on how quickly people want to see Keir Starmer removed as Prime Minister. One thing I found particularly interesting was that throughout the campaign I saw very little use of the Labour logo, and in many cases not even the word "Labour" appeared on campaign literature. Even Andy Burnham seemed keen to distance himself from the party brand. To me, that says a lot. Had Reform won, I genuinely believe it would have sent shockwaves through Westminster. Starmer's position would have come under even greater pressure, and I suspect conversations about his future would have accelerated dramatically. Burnham has made no secret of his ambition to become Prime Minister, and many voters were well aware of that. As for our candidate, Rob Kenyon, I thought he was outstanding. It takes enormous courage to put your head above the parapet and stand for public office. You open yourself up to scrutiny, criticism and, unfortunately, at times, some very unpleasant behaviour. With the eyes of the political world on Makerfield, the pressure was immense, yet Rob conducted himself with dignity, professionalism and humility throughout. I was incredibly proud to campaign alongside him. The result may not have gone the way we wanted, but let's not lose sight of the bigger picture. The growth of Reform UK over the last two years has been phenomenal. Our vote share continues to increase, our membership continues to grow, and more people than ever are putting themselves forward because they want real change. People often ask me whether I would ever switch my political allegiance to another party. My answer is simple: absolutely not. Reform UK is more than a political party to me now. It feels like a family. The friendships I've built, the people I've met and the shared belief that we can make this country better mean far more than titles or positions. I've watched people leave for other parties over the years. In my experience, it's often because they felt overlooked, wanted promotion faster, or had fallen out with colleagues. Politics is full of people chasing the next rung on the ladder. But this is a marathon, not a sprint. My job is simple: help Reform UK get into government. Whether my role in that journey is large or small doesn't matter. I am proud to be part of that machinery, proud to stand alongside so many dedicated people, and proud of how far we've already come. Now we keep going. #Makerfield #ReformUK #RobKenyon #Politics #Campaigning #TeamReform #LocalPolitics #ChangeIsComing #KeepGoing #ReformFamily

Enough really is enough. Last night Peter Mandelson sensationally resigned from the Labour Party — a party he has been part of for his entire life, with his family deeply involved too. So we must ask the obvious questions: 👉 Why did he resign now? 👉 Why wasn’t he removed years ago? 👉 And why was he ever handed positions of such power in the first place — including being made Ambassador to the United States? This Labour government has shown time and time again that it is simply not fit for purpose. We’ve seen: •A Deputy Prime Minister “forget” to pay £45,000 to HMRC •A so-called Minister for Corruption now under investigation for corruption •A Business Secretary who appeared to forget he wasn’t actually a qualified train solicitor •A Housing Secretary who evicted her own tenant using laws she herself was trying to change It goes on. And on. And on. These people seem to have forgotten one very important thing: They are public servants. They work for us — the Great British public. In the real world, if someone isn’t doing their job properly, they are shown the door through the proper channels. But in politics? That accountability seems to have vanished — and replacing them feels harder than ever. Gorton & Denton — you have the power to change that. You have a clear opportunity to send a message to Keir Starmer and his disastrous, dangerous and frankly disgraceful government. 👉 Vote Matt Goodwin 👉 Vote for integrity 👉 Vote for accountability 👉 Vote Reform UK I’ll be up there later this week — and I hope many of you will be too. Vote Matt Goodwin At every opportunity Vote Reform UK. 🇬🇧
