With a surplus of $32.7 billion, #Texas has the resources to fully fund our public schools. #Republicans like Dan Patrick and Greg Abbott wish to defund our public schools with a voucher scheme that only benefits a few thousand kids at the expense of millions. We passed SB 13 to fix it, but school districts across the state aren't following the law. This week as our kids take a deeply flawed STAAR test graded by AI and manipulated by Greg Abbott’s Texas Education Agency Commissioner, let’s remember that upon Greg Abbott’s direction, my amendment to the voucher scam bill to require the same test be given to private school kids who receive vouchers as our kids in public schools take was rejected. As he forces a supersized STAAR test on our kids in public school, Greg Abbott knows that private school parents won’t tolerate the STAAR test.
