Learning from Leshar: Don’t Commit to a Button After a Backdash Shimmy + Catch Fuzzy Buttons 0:00- Actual match footage Backdash shimmy → confirm that the opponent does nothing → backwalk and use at tip range Aim for a Punish Counter on the opponent’s fuzzy 0:04- Backdash shimmy → Don’t commit to a button If you commit to a button after a backdash shimmy, you can get hit if the opponent jumps forward or reacts to the backdash with a button such as Instead, confirm what the opponent does first, then choose your response 0:09- Backdash shimmy with Terry ・If you see a throw tech, press a button to get a Punish Counter ・If you see a jump, anti-air ・If you see nothing, backwalk and use at tip range to catch fuzzy buttons 0:20- With Akuma If you see nothing, use a delayed st.HP at tip range or backwalk and use 6HP to catch fuzzy buttons With Ryu For example: Corner throw → st.LP as a frame kill → backdash shimmy ・If you see a jump, backwalk and use Light Shoryuken ・If you see a throw tech, use to get a Punish Counter ・If you see nothing, use a delayed st.HP at tip range ✅ Instead of committing to a button immediately after the backdash shimmy, confirm the opponent’s action first and adjust your response This makes it harder for the opponent to hit you with a button after reacting to the backdash, while still allowing you to catch fuzzy buttons

First the burrito, then the kebab, now the TakOS 🦑🦑 [T] 2L5L (delay)4DMH Tentacles meaty back/neutral tech while backdash/throw OS catches the forward tech. 2L5L spaces you perfectly away from getup attack, and the tag leaves you +10 to continue the blockstring from tentacles.

Love seeing smart usage of backdash to dodge proximity guard and standing vs crouching hurtbox awareness. I went over one instance of each from Booce's recent tournament runs. New analysis video!
