There is no way that ethnic tensions could be as pronounced as they currently are without a lot of deep sin going into the generation of those tensions. But ethnic tensions are not the result of a white person waking up one day and thinking he needs to start despising people who are darker than he is. Neither is it the result of black people suddenly lurching into a policy of violence and mayhem. There are two errors to avoid when it comes to the kind of repentance that is needed in an hour like ours. One is to approach the whole thing in a simplistic spirit, calling for people to repent of all their behavior, but only starting at the precise moment the rioting started. But repentance is also needed for all the decisions and policies that led to the conditions that made the rioting seem like a reasonable way out. It isn’t, but why do people come to believe that? The second mistake is that of starting at the wrong end—this happens when we start by confessing the sins of the other guy. That gets us nowhere, and just perpetuates the conflict. You can confess other people’s sins all day long and your joy will not come back.

It is about making sure that we can have the likes of the people that have been elevated into Trump's administration, who we know are not qualified and skipping over qualified black men that yes, I may disagree with but we can all say that Byron Donalds as well as Tim Scott are more qualified than every single person that has been put into this cabinet. As much as we will agree that it is too early in the day to start reporting the unprofessional and I dare say, the illegal activities of your men, we can also agree that it is not too early for the police force to abide by the rule of law. The national PRO of AAC Femi Adeyeye, who is also a student of Unilag has just been arrested by your men for leading an anti-fee incrementation protest in front of Unilag. Now I must also state that at no point did the peaceful protest turn violent and if you people claim it tends to become violent, it's the duty of your men to ensure that the protesters are protected from danger by identifying those who are instigating violence. I am not surprised that your men went ahead to disregard the rights of Femi and others that are protected by not just the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights but also the Constitution of Nigeria. However, I am ashamed that the police have been reduced to a tool that is used to fight against Just causes that they also will benefit from.
