The scene in The Batman where he first emerges from the shadows and beats up the thugs in the train station was inspired by Goodfellas - specifically the moment where Henry Hill pistol-whips his neighbor. Matt Reeves explains: "I wanted that moment where he says “I'm Vengeance” and Rob comes out and you see him as this Batman for the first time, I wanted it to be like that moment, a shocking moment, in Goodfellas when Henry Hill…the neighbour has assaulted Karen who he's dating, and he gets so angry you see him drive up across the street from the neighbour. He gets out of the car, they look at him coming, and he takes out his revolver, and he beats this guy senselessly. It's shocking, and at that moment you realize the depth of his rage, and just how dangerous he can be. So I wanted Batman at this stage of the movie to kind of shock the audience, and for people to say like “Okay well what kind of Batman is this?” and to see that he was a Batman who acted from this very visceral personal point of view - that this was all about vengeance." Steph Curry calls Gui Santos a multi-faceted scorer and he’s excited to see this newer version of Gui in his return: “Gui has taken a tremendous step forward. I think with the increased role of knowing he’s gonna be out there every night, and his confidence being able to grow because he’s seeing the game the right way, he understands how he can be effective. Multi-faceted scorer in unorthodox ways — great footwork, touch, and he shoots the ball really well. He does a lot of things that help connect the game, and it’s just good basketball at the end of the day. It’s nothing crazy other than just make the right pass, make the right cut, if you have the advantage put the ball on the floor, if you’re wide open make a shot. He’s just seeing the game really well, so it’s helped us, and I hope I can create more space for him and vice versa, where he’s finishing plays if teams are sending a crowd to me.
