Falling ratings for the Scooby-Doo Show had prompted a number of changes to the cartoon after its move to ABC. Scooby-Dum, an occasional comedy cousin had been introduced and the show had been paired with Dynomutt, Dog Wonder. But by 1979 there was a real threat of cancellation. Enter Scrappy-Doo to save the day...
