The Beatles - Tomorrow Never Knows Imagine you’d just produced something progressive and forward-thinking in 1966 and were feeling pretty good about yourself; and then you heard this. Back to the drawing board time.

There was no reference points when people first heard this. It was impossible to describe back then. No one had the vocabulary so they just said it was "weird" which was true but interesting that people like my older teen sisters didn't question or analyze but just accepted it.

Interestingly, many family members of mine didn’t take to it immediately, citing Yellow Submarine as particularly jarring. Of course everyone on here, without question, will say they adored/‘got’ Revolver from very first listen in 1966 - but I suspect it confused many fans

A show I’ve never watched. Not quite sure why, as I’ve only heard good things about it. I’ll need to just sit down and try it

Released *two years* after “I Want to Hold Your Hand”. Two. Years. If anything, the Beatles are underrated - they were so far ahead of their time. So revolutionary. This tune still sounds like the future.

Almost 30 years later Chemical Brothers based their career on that song

I have said this many many many times. It’s not even the sheer quality of the records it’s the progression, the shift in songwriting, recording methods was astonishing. Some bands would go away for years to come back with a different style, The Beatles did it year after year.

Still mind blowing this song. You think of the peak of 1950's rock and roll to this song. The difference of 10 years is unreal. Even the change of the beatles from Love me do to TNK. How was this even possible in a space of 4 years?
