Those are slugs and they can be destructive to a garden. The smell of beer is irresistible to them and causes them to all come out of hiding. It's usually used as an easy way to trap and get rid of them.

Happiness on the face of the dog as he meets his new friend, as he finally realises that he will be adopted. ❤️

It also works for rednecks. So I'm told.

Wow, what does it actually do to the slug just get it drunk so they go back to the wrong garden or do they have some sort of reaction to it and die ?
