The answer to his question "do bees have culture?", is obviously no. They have a rudimentary capacity for imitative behaviour. Which is necessary for culture, but not sufficient. A variant of this question gets asked every time someone points out that apes have a rudimentary capacity for value judgement: "are apes moral agents?". The answer is no. The rudimentary capacity for value judgement is necessary, but not sufficient. But of course, we're not allowed to make these kinds of hierarchical distinctions anymore. Modern day ideology says, that there can be no difference between any creature that exhibits even a single trait in common. There is no necessary and sufficient! There is only the great oneness! We're all the same, "deep down", dontcha-know!
