The Beirut explosion on August 4, 2020, was caused by the detonation of approximately 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate. This chemical compound, which is commonly used in fertilizers and explosives, had been stored unsafely in a warehouse at the Port of Beirut for nearly six years. The explosion was preceded by a fire in the warehouse where the ammonium nitrate was stored, leading to the catastrophic blast. Investigations and reports from various sources, including Lebanese officials and international bodies, have confirmed that negligence, mismanagement, and corruption at the port were significant factors in allowing such hazardous material to be stored without proper safety measures.

And that blast was with less than half of the 30 tons of stolen amonuim nitrate still missing. Let that sink in.

My theory is they are pushing climate change and reducing fertilizer so rebels can't use it to fuel their rockets and IEDs. They were once afraid of plowshares, too.
