The best advice you'll ever hear.

In this 2009 interview with Tavis Smiley, the Minneapolis genius explained why he turned down a multi-million dollar deal with Guitar Hero: for him, there were no shortcuts to art. 🎹 🤔 Fun Fact: Prince was so protective of his technical mastery that he blocked his songs from appearing in the game because he felt it "taught kids not to learn the chords." He’d rather they get frustrated with real strings than be fake rock stars. Did you know? 🤯

I miss this dude....what an unbelievable talent and a gentle soul....RIP

Great advice... his efforts really paid off.

I miss the purple one

I really wish he would've stuck around long enough to settle down and start lecturing universities about musicianship and the music business. A lot of people didn't realize that he really liked kids and young people and mentored quite a few before he passed.

Watching and listening to what passes for music these days, we need a national initiative to bring back authentic rock & roll.

Prince like many other celebrites had a persona, but you got a quite a few glimpses of "The Real Prince" in that interview, I believe..

The world got a little less bright when we lost this icon. Long live Prince.

100% my instrument is keyboard/piano naturally gifted that way. Guitar wasn’t my thing but Prince was a natural at that guitar. 🎸

Toughening up your finger tips, basically building callouses so the guitar strings don’t feel like hot wires, was the biggest challenge for me. Took a couple weeks. Worth it 💜

So few regrets, but I do regret not sticking with the guitar at school. Excellent advice indeed.

He was an amazing artist! So pure and with feeling 💜

I took guitar when I was a kid but I was too young and unfocused and I quit. I regret that I didn’t see it through My advice - Encourage your kids to stick it out

I just saw him in concert. He performed better live than anything else.

He’s not wrong … 🫵😎🎸

Prince created a lot

This world misses your genius 😢💜👑

Learn an musical instrument, it will be with you in joy, and when you are at your lowest... it will be a friend.

Great advice on guitar. Had bad judgment on his arthritic hip: killed himself with narcotic self-medication instead of getting a two hour hip replacement that would’ve solved his pain problem.

💯 Agreed!! 🎼

Sigh... I really miss Prince.

@KitsieAnn This is why I bought my youngest son a guitar at 10 years old & let him explore music & everything that it has to offer & he's 28 years old now & still plays guitar & has learned to play a few other instruments & he post his music online everyday. And I write songs for him at 52😂

Miss this dude

No matter how many time I hear Prince's speaking voice, it sound way too deep for such a small man. Then I hear Mike Tyson's speaking voice.😯

I just accepted that I'am a fraud on guitar and still love to play.

#AMENIIThis (while mine collects dust) 😭

he’s a genius

It's a tough instrument? Can't agree there. I think it's one of the quicker ones to see results from your effort. But I do agree that learning a real instrument is priceless.

@papasatch52159 ☝️🎸
