The Birmingham bin strike is into its eighth week. Talks are expected to take place between the Unite Union and Birmingham City Council later, in a bid to bring strikes by bin workers to an end. Nick Dixon has the latest.

@NickDixonITV How comes there are so many cupboards,mattresses and shelving units the bin people don't take them,some people are using this strike as a reason to fly tip in public.

@NickDixonITV The media are simply not interested in providing any background facts or figures regarding what this strike is actually about, in fact they seem dead set on witholding the information at any cost!. I do not understand this stance at all.

@NickDixonITV The local Labour MPS in Birmingham are more interested in campaigning for a new airport in Pakistan than the rubbish problem in Birmingham.
