Black people couldn’t even apply for food benefits until 1972. I can’t help but see the obvious connection of the govt dismantling the revolution by taking away a key tenet of the party. It was a great recruitment tool. Nothing is a coincidence.

They did this in a political environment where to be a communist meant you were classified as a threat to the state - which was then free to kill you. I was born in the McCarthy era & witnessed it still murderous in the 1960s. Glad to see you building historical perspective!
