I'm in favour of bonfires, but it's clear too many sites have serious issues—residents under siege for months, rubbish issues, safety risks, sectarianism and paramilitary involvement. These problems need to be addressed. Certain 'Loyalists' are demonising the bonfire culture.

How can you not love a band parade when you see a people so proudly embracing their history, culture and traditions? In Northern Ireland, these traditions are not simply remembered, they are lived. They are passed down through families, generation after generation, keeping a connection to the past alive. To me, Northern Ireland is one of the very few places left within the United Kingdom where traditions are still embraced so passionately and openly. There is something incredibly special about seeing communities come together, families standing proudly along the streets, the music playing and generations sharing the same culture. I would urge anyone who has never been to Northern Ireland to travel there and see it for yourself. Look beyond what you are shown in the news and experience the people, the culture, the history and the breathtaking scenery. Northern Ireland is a country of incredible beauty, rich history and deeply rooted traditions. 🇬🇧❤️ Some things are worth preserving. Some traditions are worth celebrating. And some places are simply worth experiencing for yourself #ni

Our people are feeling confusion and frustration. This is because of a lack of identity when it comes to our culture. We have such a rich history due to our Christian values, morals and principles. We are called a multi-cultural country and this is being indoctrinated in our schools. If you are multi-cultural then that means you are culture less, which leads to a lack of identity. It’s crucial we preserve our Christian values and morals!

There have been calls for a replica mosque and anti-Muslim signage placed on a loyalist bonfire in Co Tyrone to be removed. It is understood the miniature structure was placed on the pyre in Moygashel on Wednesday. Two signs have also been placed on the bonfire reading “secure our borders” and “end the threat of radical Islam”.
