While many around the league don’t expect any linebackers to be drafted tonight, if there is one, it certainly could be #TexasAM’s Edgerrin Cooper. Cooper is the most complete LB in the 2024 draft class. He’s shown to be: 1️⃣an elite athlete 2️⃣a consistent and impactful run defender 3️⃣a capable and efficient blitzer, and 4️⃣able to use his size and bend to disrupt in pass protection As a run defender, he finished with an 87.6 PFF grade, highest among any expected draft linebackers in this year’s draft class. That includes 15 TFLs or no gain plays. As you can see (🎥), his downhill force plus balance and control allows him to consistently win in the run game As a pass rusher, he had 7 sacks on the year, 4 of which came from playing on the line of scrimmage. When lined up on the line of scrimmage, he generated a pressure on over 30% of his pass rush snaps. Elite ‼️ And in coverage, he finished with a top-10 coverage grade int eh country last season (per PFF College) among LBs lined up in the box. He’s able to use his length and bend, along with developed vision and timing to disrupt plays from the box. Couple all of that with a 4.51 forty time and would-be impressive athletic testing numbers if he was 100% for the draft process (why he wasn’t able to officially go every day in practice at East-West Shrine Bowl), and it’s hard to ignore his NFL starting potential. There’s a real chance he goes in late round one, but if he’s there on Day 2, he may not only be one of, if not the, first linebacker drafted, but may be one of the first players taken on Day 2 of the draft. #ShrineBowlWhosNext

The 44-year-old former Ryder Cupper's last major start at The Open in 2019 got off to an incredible start before an unfortunate fall. There are 450 players in the NBA. Of those 450 players……maybe……38 are star players. The other 412 players are all ROLE players!! This means that roughly 85% of the players with jobs in the NBA are ROLE players. The key then to getting to the NBA and staying in the NBA is mastering your ROLE, no matter how big or small that ROLE may be. Patrick Beverley averaged 40ppg in high school while playing in the toughest inner-city league in Chicago. Beverley would not have lasted two seasons in the NBA trying to be a scorer, so he found his ROLE, and turned that into a 12 year career with $82 million in career earnings. Draymond Green is capable of averaging 18-20ppg. That is not his ROLE with the Warriors. He has turned his ROLE into a 14 year career and $228 million in career earnings. No one is asking Bronny James to be a scorer. The Lakers have FOUR scorers. Bronny’s ROLE is to be an elite defender, to knock down open jump shots, and to be aggressive in attacking on offense when opportunities arise. Bronny is growing into his ROLE. A 22-year old earning $120,000 every two weeks while working with his father who is a billionaire is a failure in YOUR eyes if the 22 year old does not average 20ppg because you are both broke AND stupid, and you don’t understand the BUSINESS of the NBA!

BREAKING: Senator John Fetterman transported to hospital: “During an early morning walk, Senator Fetterman sustained a fall near his home in Braddock. Out of an abundance of caution, he was transported to a hospital in Pittsburgh. Upon evaluation, it was established he had a ventricular fibrillation flare-up that led to Senator Fetterman feeling light-headed, falling to the ground and hitting his face with minor injuries. Senator Fetterman had this to say: ‘If you thought my face looked bad before, wait until you see it now!’ He is doing well and receiving routine observation at the hospital. He has opted to stay so doctors can fine-tune his medication regimen. Senator Fetterman is grateful for the EMTs, doctors, and nurses who are providing his care.”

Brandon Clarke is perhaps the coolest player to play a season at Gonzaga, holding what I view as the coolest stat and highlight in program history. Clarke averaged nearly 17 points per game on 68% field goal efficiency while being an elite defender with 3.2 blocks per game. CLARKE HAD AS MANY BLOCKS AS HE HAD MISSED FIELD GOALS in his lone season in Spokane. He also gave us an all-time defensive highlight. Not only stealing the soul of the player who tried dunking on him but also the entire Tennessee bench seeing him rob a jam. RIP to a special, special dude.

Shifting focus to 2025, RHP Tyler Bremner (UC Santa Barbara Baseball) is one of my favorite College arms in the class. As a freshman, Bremner split time between the bullpen and the rotation and pitched his way to a modest 5.37 ERA with an impressive strikeout-to-walk ratio of 80-to-17 across 55.1 innings. Bremner has a lean, athletic build at 6'2" and 180-lbs. He has room to fill out physically and as he does, his already-electric stuff will only tick up. Bremner has a low maintenance, under control operation with present arm speed. He attacks hitters from a high-three quarter slot and his fastball sits in the 93-96 range and tops out at 98. It has elite riding life (averaged over 21" of IVB in '23) and is most effective when located in the top-half of the zone. Between its velocity and shape, it is a 60-grade offering. He boasts two quality secondary offerings in a mid-80s changeup and low-80s slider. Bremner’s changeup is the more polished of the two, but his sweeping slider has plus potential. In 2023, Bremner’s changeup generated an impressive 48% miss rate. He has advanced feel for the offering, and he will throw it to both left and righthanded hitters. It plays well off his mid-90s fastball and flashes big time late tumbling life and some fade to the arm side. Bremner threw his slider just 12% of the time in 2023, but it has the chance to be a true out pitch in the future. It features ample late sweeping life as well as some depth, and is a real weapon especially against righthanded hitters. It has reportedly taken a step forward this fall and could be a lethal offering in 2024. Between his plus control, low effort delivery, and the chance to have three plus or better pitches, Bremner profiles as a starter professionally. A well-built (nearly 6’2, 195) perimeter receiver, Brown is a highly impressive athlete, boasting a 4.4 PAI (per Tracking Football), led by a 24’01 long jump (96th percentile), and posting a 4.45 forty and a 38 vertical in high school. He joins a now loaded, explosive offense for QB Cam Ward (Cameron Ward) and creates one of the best WR trios in college football with fellow WRs Jacolby George (Jacolby George) and Xavier Restrepo (Xavier Restrepo) Last year, he forced 20 missed tackles after catch, second-best among Big 12 WRs in 2023. And he stood out against top competition: 46% of his total receiving production came against in-state, P4 competition. Brown has high grades from NFL scouts coming into the season, and will be a part of maybe the most balanced, talent-laded skill position group in the country. Been looking for one clip I think summarizes PIT’s struggles in the passing game and I think I found it. 1. Bills double Metcalf (top of the screen) by pressing him and shading with the safety. 2. Four-over-three zone coverage to the bottom. None of the receivers can find open grass early in the route. 3. Spin move from Bosa versus Fautanu creates pressure. If the pocket stays clean, Rodgers may be able to hang in and target Washington, who is coming free on the crossing route. Instead he bails to his right and the play turns into a scramble drill. 4. Wilson comes open early in the scramble but Rodgers isn’t in position to get him the ball. Everything else is locked down, and he has to throw it away. There it is in a nutshell. The defense takes away Metcalf, jams up everything underneath, creates quick pressure to disrupt the pocket, and Rodgers gets antsy and has to dirt his throw. That’s the state of the passing game at the moment.
