When you get up past mach 10 those are orbital speeds. You can't go that fast in atmosphere.

Speed is great but in conventional warfare, guidance to target and terminal guidance are more critical for moving targets. This is only half the picture.

They don't travel this fast in atmosphere as they'd get atomized by the pressure

Ballistic missiles don't travel vertically. Zircon is the last hypersonic cruise missile, all after that are ballistic missiles which follows a parabola, goes up and comes down using gravity with or without boosters
