The CFL is making a bold move to evolve the game with a set of changes centred upon entertainment and innovation. Commissioner Stewart Johnston announced that changes will be instituted over the next two seasons through a phased approach. As a person who resides in the states and loves the CFL, this is awful. I loved the uniqueness that the CFL has/had. I'm not gonna lie, probably will stop watching and caring now. I'm sad😢

This goes against the zeitgeist of being proud of what makes Canada unique. These changes are completely unnecessary. There is no pressing need for them whatsoever. You should have put more effort into proudly marketing the Canadian game instead of imitating aspects of the American game.

These rules do not improve the game. Especially the 35 second play clock. That Americanizes things and basically kills the exciting finishes that have become a trademark of the league. This is the last thing the league needs

Just screwed over amateur football! So many Highschools, university, junior & minor teams play in places like Mosaic Stadium but then also play in smaller stadiums like Leibel Field… they will now have to play two different types of games… And we all know 9 CFL games a year doesn’t justify the investment that was made by the Sask Government & people of Saskatchewan.

Get rid of this guy. Another American trying to come in and ruin this beautiful game. In 🇨🇦, our game has a rouge, 3 downs and a 55-yard line. If you don’t agree with that, you’re in no position to hold power of any form over this league.

Feels like a matter of time before they make it 4 downs. This announcement summed up said "we are going to make the game easier and we are tone deaf. We know you want a 10th team but we are going to remove the things you enjoy"

No! Four downs and a narrow field next, right guys? Tell the Commish he may not be welcome in Winnipeg or Regina.

The Commissioner isn't just some middle manager. Johnston was entrusted as steward of a 150+ year legacy of Canadian Football. Now he has betrayed the fans, the players, and the game. Following the tired corporate mantra about "no golden cows", he's burning the whole thing down.

The rouge is not a reward for failure but a reward for not allowing the defence to stop them getting close enough for the point

These changes are awful. How are players gonna sit on opposite sides at Percival Molson? Rushing officials, they will be focusing on the setup instead of looking around. They will start to miss stuff. The rouge is fine. It rewards field position. Changing the dimensions ????

I have been a big fan of CFL for 50 years, I liked the game the way it was. It was exciting to watch a missed field goal run out and get a possible touch down. This sounds to me like NFL is dictating changes. I may have to reconsider my season tickets. Not a happy fan

Doing things that won't bring new fans while annoying longtime fans is definitely a choice.

The only people who call the rouge on a FG miss a reward for failure are people who don't understand Canadian football. And if you don't understand Canadian football you shouldn't be the commissioner of it.
